Car Rolls into Gorge on Dilijan-Ijevan Road; Casualties Reported
On August 4, at 19:21, the crisis management center of the Tavush regional rescue service received a report that a "Toyota Isis" vehicle had veered off the Dilijan-Ijevan highway and rolled into a gorge, resulting in casualties.
A firefighting rescue team was dispatched from the regional rescue service to the site of the incident. It was determined that the vehicle, driven by N. T., born in 1990, had left the roadway at kilometer 110 of the Yerevan-Ijevan highway and, after rolling for about 400 meters, ended up in the gorge.
The rescuers disabled the vehicle’s electrical system, closed the gas tank valve, and extracted the injured individuals A. Y., born in 1990, and N. K., also born in 1990, from the gorge (approximately 400 meters deep) and brought them to the ambulance. The injured N. K. was hospitalized at the Ijevan medical center.
Specialized equipment is required to retrieve the vehicle from the gorge.
