Humanitarian Aid to Nagorno-Karabakh Fails to Reach Its Destination for the Sixth Day, Says Vardan Sargsyan

Azerbaijan continues to illegally block the Lachin corridor and does not allow humanitarian aid allocated from Armenia to reach the population of Nagorno-Karabakh, where there is a serious humanitarian crisis due to the complete blockage of the corridor by Azerbaijan. In a conversation with reporters, Vardan Sargsyan, a representative of the working group formed under the leadership of Armenia's Deputy Prime Minister, noted that since July 26, humanitarian shipments have not moved from their origin and have not approached their destination in any way.

“Sadly, I must record that humanitarian shipments have not approached their destination in any way for the past six days. The purpose of this humanitarian aid is to alleviate the situation of the people of Nagorno-Karabakh, who are in a difficult humanitarian situation. During these days, we are witnessing the hardships the people are going through due to an ongoing crisis lasting nearly eight months. We are also seeing various incidents involving especially vulnerable groups—children, the elderly, pregnant women, those suffering from various chronic illnesses, and persons with disabilities—which are a direct result of Azerbaijan's illegal blockade of the Lachin corridor. Meanwhile, the food, essential items, and medications that are supposed to be on these trucks can save lives or at least ease the situation that currently prevails in Nagorno-Karabakh,” he stated.

Sargsyan expressed hope that the humanitarian initiative would reach its destination and that humanitarian shipments would be transferred to Nagorno-Karabakh as soon as possible.
