Charges Filed Against Combat Position Commander in the Murder Case of Soldier Murad Grigoryan
The ongoing investigation by the Military Investigative Main Division of the RA Investigative Committee into the death of soldier Murad Seryozha Grigoryan, who died from a gunshot wound on July 26, 2023, at the combat position of military unit N, adjacent to the underground shelter, is still underway.
As a result of various investigative activities, several other significant circumstances pertaining to the case have been clarified. Specifically, factual data was obtained during the investigation indicating that the commander of the said position, T.S., having learned that soldier A.H. had inflicted a fatal gunshot wound on his comrade Murad Seryozha Grigoryan using a PK-type machine gun assigned to him, took actions aimed at obstructing the identification of the person who committed the crime.
Particularly, he placed the cartridge next to M. Grigoryan's body, and under his instruction, A.H. informed comrades, officers of the dispatched unit, and law enforcement officials that Murad Grigoryan had allegedly committed suicide by inflicting an injury on himself.
Based on the evidence gathered during the investigation, public criminal proceedings were initiated against position commander T.S. under point 3 of part 2 of Article 474 of the RA Criminal Code, and charges have been presented to him. A motion has been filed with the court to select arrest as a measure of restraint, which has been granted.
Earlier, the RA Investigative Committee reported that soldier Murad Grigoryan’s comrade A.H. has also been charged in the criminal proceedings for inflicting a fatal gunshot wound with a service-issued PK-type machine gun, and the court had also chosen detention as a measure of restraint for him.
Note: A person charged with a crime is considered innocent until proven guilty by a court ruling that has entered into legal force in accordance with the stipulations of the RA Criminal Procedure Code.
