Businessman Involved in Smbatyan Case Also Detained
Former ambassador Armen Smbatyan and his son, conductor Sergey Smbatyan, have seen businessman A.P. detained for two months, according to the Office of the Prosecutor General of Armenia.
Recently, the prosecutor's office announced that on July 27, 2023, public criminal prosecution had been initiated against father and son, A.S. and S.S., as well as businessman A.P. It is known that A.P. is businessman Arman Petrosyan.
The criminal proceedings reveal that extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador A.S., his son conductor S.S., and businessman A.P., in 2012, presented a fraudulent investment project worth 800 million AMD for the construction of the "World of Books" multifunctional complex to the Government of the Republic of Armenia. They allegedly defrauded by misappropriating a 300-square-meter plot of land, worth 166 million 103 thousand AMD, which was provided to the "P. Tchaikovsky Secondary Music School" SNCO for free use, located at 36 Koghbaci Street, Yerevan.
