Analysts Calculate Azerbaijani Armed Forces Losses in the First Seven Months of This Year
In the first seven months of 2023, the losses of the Azerbaijani armed forces amounted to 44 servicemen. Nine military personnel were killed in combat conditions, while the remaining 35 losses were non-combat related. This information was reported by the Caspian Military Research Institute (CDSI).
According to the press release from CDSI, 44 servicemen were lost by Azerbaijan during the initial seven months of 2023. Specifically, nine individuals died in combat, while two were fatalities resulting from mine explosions.
The remaining 35 servicemen lost their lives in non-combat situations, which includes four due to traffic accidents, seven from various illnesses, two following armed assaults, one due to non-regulation relationships, one due to negligence, and three from unfortunate incidents. Seventeen servicemen committed suicide.
Among the deceased, 28 served in the Ministry of Defense, eight in the State Border Service, three in the Ministry of Emergency Situations, two in internal troops, one in the strategic facilities protection department, one in the Ministry of Justice, and one in the militarized protection department of the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport.
Out of the deceased, 24 were privates, six were officers, four were conscript servicemen, three were non-commissioned officers, one was a sergeant, and three were cadets. The identities of three deceased individuals could not be established, as noted in CDSI's report.
