What Parents of Missing Soldiers Discussed with the Deputy Police Chief
During the 44-day war, parents of the missing soldiers from the "Chemists' Military Unit" in Ejmiadzin protested by blocking Baghramyan Avenue for nearly 9 hours yesterday. They demand a meeting with Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. Following the protest, they opened the roads and then went to meet with the Deputy Police Chief.
In an interview with Aysor.am, Mrs. Anahit, the mother of a missing soldier, shared that they spoke with the Deputy Police Chief, who assured them that they would always be by their side. "Today we all understand that they are simply following orders, and if there is an order to clear the road, they will be forced to use force. They tried to explain to our men that blocking the road for more than 8 hours in the central part is absurd,” she said.
According to Mrs. Anahit, they appreciate the actions of the police. They have always behaved correctly, even towards those who attempt to insult the soldiers who are missing. "They feel very bad about the words from those ungrateful individuals and respond to them," she noted.
Mrs. Anahit mentioned that the Deputy Police Chief did not guarantee that Nikol Pashinyan would meet with the parents. "He asked us to write a letter requesting a meeting with the Prime Minister, the head of the Supreme Judicial Council, and the head of the Investigative Committee. He told us it would be organized at the earliest possible date. When we asked when that would be, he said perhaps in 10-12 days. We have given a deadline of 15 days, until August 10. We know for sure that they will not meet with us, but we will follow through with this step. If we are not met, we will block other streets. We will block interstate routes so they cannot reach the nuclear power plant or go to work. Last time, the general assured us that Nikol would accept us, and that did not happen. Yesterday the general was there and said nothing; he felt bad because his word had no value,” she expressed.
