Judge Who Issued Arrest Warrant for Putin is Wanted in Russia
The judge of the International Criminal Court (ICC), Tomoko Akane, who issued arrest warrants for Russian President Vladimir Putin and children’s rights commissioner Maria Lvova-Belova, has been placed on wanted status. This information has been reported by TASS, citing the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs' search database.
“Tomoko Akane: Japanese. Wanted under the article of the Russian Criminal Code,” states the database. However, the specific article for which she is wanted is not mentioned on the wanted card.
It is noteworthy that on March 17, the International Criminal Court issued an arrest warrant for Putin and Maria Lvova-Belova for their alleged involvement in ‘war crimes concerning the illegal deportation of a population,’ including children.
On March 20, the Russian Investigative Committee initiated criminal proceedings against Akane and two other judges, as well as ICC prosecutor Karim Ahmad Khan, for allegedly holding an innocent person accountable and for preparing to attack a representative of a foreign state enjoying international protection.
