Irish singer Sinéad O’Connor has passed away at the age of 56, as reported by Irish Times. Her family announced the news of her death.

In a statement, they said: “We are heartbroken to announce the death of our beloved Sinéad. Her family and friends are devastated and have asked for privacy during this very difficult time.”

The renowned Dublin artist released 10 albums, and her song 'Nothing Compares 2 U' was recognized as the world's number one single by the Billboard Music Awards in 1990. This song earned O’Connor the title of Best Artist of the Year by Rolling Stone magazine in 1991.

It is known that she struggled with depression for many years, and last year, her 17-year-old son tragically took his own life.
