Ukrainian Air Defense System Significantly Strengthened: Zelensky
The Ukrainian air defense system has been significantly strengthened, according to President Volodymyr Zelensky.
He stated that the decision was made by the country’s leadership against the backdrop of intensified attacks on military and infrastructure facilities.
“Our air defense system has been reinforced,” Zelensky said on his Telegram channel. He added that defense measures would be sent to areas where they are most needed.
Notably, on July 25, during a phone conversation with UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, Zelensky mentioned that Kyiv requires new supplies of Western air defense systems. He emphasized that corresponding actions must be urgently taken to protect key facilities in Ukraine’s largest cities.
With the assistance of Western allies, Ukraine already possesses air defense systems including IRIS-T, NASAMS, Patriot, SAMP/T-Mamba, and HAWK.
