Arsen Torosyans Seeks Employment Outside Armenia
The newspaper "Joghvourd" reports: "It has been written multiple times that former minister Arsen Torosyans and his team's communications have become very formal and cold. Many even avoid maintaining professional ties with him for fear that it could have negative consequences for them.
There are persistent rumors in the upper echelons of power that there is specific information suggesting that significant money was likely embezzled from the financial flows of Covid-19 during Torosyans' time as minister, and a considerable portion of that has been taken out of the country and invested in the healthcare business. We were informed that the arrest of Torosyans' former deputy, Gevorg Simonyan, and the intensified activity of law enforcement regarding the Covid case was in the context of this matter. It is difficult to ascertain how credible these reports are and the extent to which Torosyans is directly or indirectly involved in all this.
One of the individuals who had close relationships with Arsen Torosyans informed us that his dream is to leave the country and work for the World Health Organization (WHO). According to the same source, Torosyans is currently doing everything possible to appeal to the senior leadership of the WHO, even trying to communicate his actions to the WHO headquarters through various means; it is not ruled out that his actions might be directed from abroad.
Thus, it appears that in the name of advancing his career or ensuring his own security, Torosyans might take steps that do not align with Armenia's interests. Only time will reveal where and when Torosyans will end up. The "Joghvourd" newspaper attempted to reach Arsen Torosyans for confirmation of the information, but our numerous calls went unanswered.
