Pentagon Allocates $400 Million Military Aid to Ukraine

The United States is providing another package of military aid to Ukraine worth $400 million, which includes ammunition and armored vehicles, the Pentagon announced on Tuesday.

“The security assistance announced today totals $400 million and includes additional air defense munitions, artillery ammunition, armored vehicles, and anti-tank weapons,” according to a press release from the U.S. Department of Defense.

The Pentagon clarifies that this assistance does not entail ordering new weapons for Ukraine, but rather sending existing weapons from U.S. military stockpiles.

The document states that the aid package specifically includes 32 Stryker armored vehicles, Patriot and NASAMS missile defense systems, as well as HIMARS MLRS munitions. Additionally, the U.S. will provide Stinger and Javelin MANPADS, 155 mm and 105 mm artillery shells, TOW anti-tank missile system missiles, Hydra-70 unguided air-to-ground rockets, and approximately 28 million rounds of small arms ammunition.

According to the Pentagon, since February 2022, the U.S. has provided $43 billion in military assistance to Ukraine.
