Issues Related to Nagorno-Karabakh Deserve Regular Attention, Lavrov Tells Bayramov
We wish to use today’s meeting to address one of the most significant issues in our region, namely the long-term stabilization of the South Caucasus, said Sergey Lavrov, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, during his opening remarks at a meeting with Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov.
“We are convinced that the shortest path to achieving this is the full implementation of all provisions of the trilateral statements made by the leaders of Russia, Azerbaijan, and Armenia. Several additional documents are being prepared for discussion by our leaders,” Lavrov continued.
Lavrov also emphasized the need to focus on the implementation of agreements at the highest level regarding the signing of a peace treaty between Baku and Yerevan, stating, “We are ready to support this in every way, including providing a platform for the signing.”
“However, issues related to Nagorno-Karabakh and everything associated with it deserve regular attention. I am referring to the humanitarian situation, which currently attracts significant attention and commentary from the international community. We appreciate that our Azerbaijani friends understand the necessity of ensuring the rights and security of the Armenian population of Karabakh. This is one of the central issues,” highlighted the Russian Foreign Minister.
Lavrov also touched on bilateral relations: “This reflects how decisions made at the highest level during the regular communications between our presidents are being implemented. Russian-Azerbaijani relations are gradually developing.”
