Belarusian Citizens Strike Victim in the Head, Lock Her in Room, and Steal Large Sum of Money - Investigative Committee
The Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia has disclosed significant details regarding the robbery that occurred in Yerevan on July 20. On that day, at 06:49, a resident of a building on Tumanyan Street reported that around 05:00, two masked young men entered her apartment by pretending to be women, struck her in the head, locked her in a room, and stole a valuable mobile phone, 720,000 AMD, 350 euros, and 400 US dollars.
A criminal case has been initiated under Article 252, Part 3, Clause 2 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia.
During the preliminary investigation, conducted investigative and procedural actions, as well as operational measures taken by the police, allowed for the identification of three individuals involved in the crime. They are citizens of the Republic of Belarus, two men born in 1995 and 2001, and a woman born in 1987 who is the sister of the 1995-born man. She resides in the same apartment in Yerevan with the victim and reportedly assisted her associates.
Evidence has emerged indicating that shortly after the incident, the two men allegedly responsible for the crime crossed the state border of Armenia through the ‘Zvartnots’ airport checkpoint and flew out of Armenia on a Yerevan-Moscow flight. Meanwhile, the woman who allegedly assisted them has been arrested.
Public prosecution has been initiated against the aforementioned men under Article 252, Part 3, Clause 2 of the Criminal Code of Armenia, while the woman faces charges under Article 46-252 of the Criminal Code. The prosecuting body has filed a request with the court to select a preventive measure of arrest against her, which has been granted.
The investigation continues, and necessary evidentiary and procedural actions are being carried out to clarify the circumstances of the case.
