Video: Roof Collapses at School in China, 11 Dead

The roof of a gymnasium at a middle school in Qiqihar, Heilongjiang Province, northeastern China has collapsed. According to China Central Television, the death toll has reached 11. Earlier reports noted 10 fatalities. The incident occurred on Sunday around noon.

A total of 15 people were trapped under the rubble, with four successfully rescued. Preliminary information indicates that the cause of the roof collapse was a violation of renovation regulations. Poor workmanship, influenced by rain, led to the roof's failure. Following the rains, the structure collapsed. Police have detained those responsible for the renovations.
