Natalya Rottenberg Not a Candidate for Yerevan Mayor
In the upcoming Yerevan City Council elections, the list of the 'Strength of the Fatherland' party will be headed by Nelly Harutyunyan, a third-class state adviser in the justice system, according to the party's announcement.
According to the political force, Nataliya Arzakantsyan, who was earlier designated to lead the list and be the party's candidate for mayor, has decided that the list should be headed by a representative of Armenian descent.
The party leader, Tigran Arzakantsyan, has also confirmed that the candidate for the mayor of Yerevan is Nelly Harutyunyan. Nelly Harutyunyan has decades of experience in law enforcement. She has held various positions, including the head of the International Legal Relations Department of the RA Prosecutor General's Office and senior investigator in the main department for investigation of particularly important cases. She is currently the legal adviser to the director of the 'HayAeronavigatsia' company.
The Yerevan City Council elections will take place on September 17. The campaign will start on August 23 and end at midnight on September 15. Elections will be conducted through a proportional electoral system with party or coalition electoral lists.
The ruling 'Civil Contract' party announced back in March that their candidate is Tigran Avinyan. The Yerevan mayoral candidate for the 'Living Country' party is the party president Mane Tandilyan. The list of the 'Enlightened Armenia' party will be headed by David Khajakyan.
So far, attorney Norair Norikyan, former Center district mayor Viktor Mnatsakanyan, and several others have announced their participation in the elections. The parliamentary opposition has yet to make a decision about their participation.
