Underage Students Among Those Arrested in Murder Plot Against Margarita Simonyan and Ksenia Sobchak

Charges have been filed against individuals accused of preparing a murder plot against Margarita Simonyan and Ksenia Sobchak, specifically concerning the beating of individuals of Asian descent. This information was reported by TASS, which cited a ruling from the Basmanny Court regarding the detention of one of the defendants. The ruling states, "This criminal case was initiated on July 14, 2023, by the main investigation department of the Investigative Committee of Russia against eight individuals on the basis of the elements of three crimes as outlined in part 2 of Article 213 (hooliganism committed by a group of persons by prior agreement), regarding the facts of beating against individuals of Asian nationality for hooliganistic motives."

It is noted that all eight individuals were detained between July 14 and 17, and they have already been charged. Among them are minors, one of whom is a 10th-grade student from a Moscow secondary school. The defense in court stated that the defendant is willing to cooperate with the investigation and does not intend to hide, based on which the lawyer requested the minor to be placed under house arrest. However, the court sent the defendant to a detention facility.
