Poland Relocates Troops to Border with Belarus Due to Exercises with Wagner Group

The Polish Ministry of Defense has decided to reallocate troops from the western part of the country to the east, closer to the border with Belarus. This decision is attributed to reports of planned military exercises involving the private military company Wagner Group

According to TASS news agency, Zbigniew Hofman, a representative of the government's Security Commission, announced this to the Polish Press Agency on July 21.

"The Commission has analyzed potential threats, including the deployment of Wagner Group units. For this reason, the Minister of Defense and head of the Commission, Mariusz Błaszczak, has decided to move our military formations from western Poland to the east," he stated.

Hofman indicated that the objectives of these units include conducting exercises as well as deterring potential aggressors. According to Polish authorities, the joint military exercises of the Belarusian army and the Wagner Group are considered an undeniable provocation.

Previously, the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Defense stated that the special operations forces of the republic would work on several combat training tasks joint with fighters from the private military company at a training ground in Brest, located near the Polish border.

In addition, the Belarusian military department announced that Wagner fighters are training local territorial troops in the Osipovich district of the Mogilev region. Minsk has not disclosed the number of fighters from the private military company that have arrived in Belarus.
