Video: "Unfortunately, the Brussels Trilateral Meeting Yielded No Concrete Results," Says Pashinyan

In the context of the illegal blockade of the Lachin Corridor and the deepening humanitarian crisis in Artsakh, on July 15, I held a trilateral meeting in Brussels with the President of the EU Council and the President of Azerbaijan. Unfortunately, this meeting did not yield any concrete results regarding the opening of the Lachin Corridor and overcoming the humanitarian crisis in Artsakh. This was stated today, July 20, at a government meeting by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.

“Politically, the President of the EU Council emphasized the necessity of opening the Lachin Corridor in his statement following the meeting, as well as the need to address the security and rights agenda of the Armenians of Artsakh through dialogue between Stepanakert and Baku. Our conviction has been and continues to be that without international involvement and mechanisms, this dialogue cannot be effective, especially since Baku continues its aggressive and threatening rhetoric towards the Armenian population of Artsakh, which we assess as having the underlying goal of carrying out ethnic cleansing in Artsakh. This is no longer a theoretical assertion but a concrete program being implemented through the illegal blockade of the Lachin Corridor, as directly evidenced by the complete absence of electricity, natural gas, food, and other essential goods supply to Artsakh, aimed at making it impossible for Armenians to live there.

It is painful to note that the authoritative decisions of the International Court of Justice from February 22 and July 6, which obligate Azerbaijan to open the Lachin Corridor, have not yet been fulfilled. Nevertheless, we must continue our work in this direction. It is also necessary to take steps to ensure comprehensive coverage of the established humanitarian crisis in Artsakh by international media,” Pashinyan remarked.
