Risk of Deterioration in Humanitarian Situation of Nagorno-Karabakh Population, Says US Representative to OSCE
At a special meeting of the OSCE Permanent Council convened by Armenia, US Chargé d'Affaires Katherine Braha delivered a speech, reports 1Lurer.am.
She welcomed the high-level meetings between Armenia and Azerbaijan within the framework of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict resolution process, including meetings held on July 15 in Brussels and from June 27-29 in Washington.
"Peace, dialogue, and normalization of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan—on the basis of mutual respect for each other's sovereignty and territorial integrity, and a commitment to refrain from the use of force or threats thereof, as stated in the Helsinki Final Act—remain the only way forward," emphasized the diplomat.
Referring to the closure of the Lachin corridor by Azerbaijan, Braha noted that there is a risk of deterioration in the humanitarian situation of the Nagorno-Karabakh population.
"We again urge the parties to refrain from provocative, threatening, or hostile actions or rhetoric," stated the US representative.
