Mysterious Metallic Cylinder Discovered in Australia
A mysterious metallic cylinder has washed ashore near Jurien Bay in Australia, according to Fox News.
“Australian authorities believe that the strange balloon that has washed up is most likely space debris, while local media continue to speculate about its origins,” the report states.
Representatives from the Australian Space Agency have confirmed on social media that they are in contact with partners to determine the cylinder's origin. Officials from the agency suggest that the object could be part of a foreign rocket.
They have also advised local residents to refrain from interacting with the material and to report any other debris that may surface in the environment.
Social media users speculate that the mysterious object may have detached from last week's launch of the Indian LVM3 rocket and subsequently drifted to Australian shores.
The strange object, which resembles a cylinder with a rounded top, was covered in shells and algae when it washed ashore on Saturday.
Authorities have cordoned off the area, wrapped the object in plastic, and removed it from the beach on Tuesday. According to Australian media, it has been taken to a secure storage location.
The secrecy of the government's actions has led to widespread speculation among local residents and internet users about the object's origins.
