Report on Human Rights Violations Due to Azerbaijan's Aggression in Yeraskh Published

The Human Rights Defender published an urgent report today, July 18, regarding the ongoing violations of human rights as a result of the shelling by Azerbaijani armed forces towards the village of Yeraskh in the Ararat province of Armenia.

The document outlines the fundamental human rights violations recorded based on the investigations conducted by the Defender in the village of Yeraskh. The report compiles and analyzes the human rights violations resulting from the gunfire by Azerbaijani armed forces in June 2023, and presents a package of recommendations to address issues related to the protection of human rights.

On June 13-14, Azerbaijani combat positions opened fire towards the village of Yeraskh, with particularly intense and targeted shelling affecting a metallurgy plant being built in Yeraskh with foreign investments. As a result of the gunfire, two citizens of India were injured and required transportation to a medical facility.

The actions of the Azerbaijani armed forces have resulted in violations of the rights to life, mental and physical integrity, property, education, work, entrepreneurship, and several other fundamental rights of the civilian population.

It is worth noting that the urgent report will be translated into English and sent to international organizations and actors with a mandate for human rights protection, as well as to relevant state authorities.
