Photos: 734 Cannabis Plants Removed from the Property of a 55-Year-Old Resident in Yerevan
The Investigative Committee of Armenia has reported that during an investigation initiated under Articles 393 (1), 404 (1), and 335 (1) of the Criminal Code, a search was conducted at the residence of a 55-year-old man in Yerevan. The site inspection revealed that a total of 734 cannabis plants were uprooted and seized from the property, including the backyard.
Authorities also discovered dried green substances weighing 151 grams and 12.32 grams, cannabis seeds, and a double-barreled shotgun. Based on substantial grounds for suspicion of committing a crime, the 55-year-old man was arrested and processed by the relevant body.
To clarify significant circumstances of the criminal case, forensic examinations have been ordered, including botanical, chemical, and toxicological analyses. The firearm, which was illegally possessed, has been identified as a homemade short-barreled smoothbore firearm by expert conclusion.
It was also determined that the 151 grams of green substance presented for examination is classified as marijuana. In light of the gathered evidence, charges have been brought against the man under Article 335 (1) and Article 396 (3) of the Criminal Code.
A motion has been submitted to the court to apply preventive detention, which has been granted. The investigation is ongoing.
