Iran Calls on Russia to Respect Ukraine's Territorial Integrity
The Iranian authorities have called on Russia to respect Ukraine's territorial integrity. This was announced by Iran's Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, as reported by IRNA.
"Regarding Ukraine, we believe in the territorial integrity of every country, including Ukraine, which should be a priority for all countries based on international law. Of course, we continue to emphasize the end of the war through political dialogue," the minister stated during a press conference in Tehran on July 17, alongside Oman's Foreign Minister Badr bin Hamad bin Hamoud Al Busaidi.
Earlier, the Iranian Foreign Ministry summoned the Russian ambassador Alexey Dedov due to Moscow's position regarding three islands in the Persian Gulf. These islands, Abu Musa, Greater Tunb, and Lesser Tunb, are subject to a territorial dispute between Iran and the UAE. The summon was prompted by Tehran's discontent with the joint statement following a ministerial meeting on strategic dialogue between Russia and the Gulf Cooperation Council.
"After the Russian ambassador was summoned to the Foreign Ministry, we received clarifications from the Russian authorities, but we do not consider them sufficient and do not accept the repetition of this practice related to Iran's territorial integrity by Russia or any other country," Amir-Abdollahian said.
