Details on the Balasanyan Case: 'Hraparak'

'Hraparak' newspaper writes: 'Yesterday, the court rejected Vitaly Balasanyan's detention request. Earlier, the other detainees, his son and brother, were also released. Of course, the charges differed; his son was accused of misusing a 75 million dram state loan, while Balasanyan faces charges under Article 336, part one, for threatening violence against a representative of the authorities. We recall that he demanded those who came for a search to tell him what they were looking for and to show the court's decision regarding the search. The NSS officers refused, and he demonstrated resistance. This was followed by Balasanyan being forcibly taken away.

Presumably, there was significant public outcry, and law enforcement agencies in Artsakh avoided escalating the situation. However, we have learned that discussions about releasing footage from the search lasted several days in Artsakh. There were even rumors that NSS agents had discovered at least 'Tushonka-2' scenes in Balasanyan's home, but they refrained from making them public.'
