Ara Khzmalyan Appointed New Director of the Matenadaran

The board of trustees of the Matenadaran Mesrop Mashtots Institute of Ancient Manuscripts has unanimously appointed Ara Khzmalyan, the Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of the Republic of Armenia, as the new director of the Matenadaran.

It is noteworthy that three candidates submitted their applications for the vacant position of director: Acting Director Karen Matevosyan, Deputy Minister Ara Khzmalyan, and Dr. Artsrun Sahakyan, a researcher at the Matenadaran specializing in historical and philological sciences. However, the latter withdrew his candidacy.
