Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry: 'Russia's Foreign Ministry Statement Causes Confusion and Frustration'

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan has issued a statement expressing deep disappointment regarding the Russian Foreign Ministry's announcement made on July 15.

“The July 15 statement by the Russian Foreign Ministry, which comments on the tripartite agreement and the peace process, causes confusion and frustration. It does not align with the declaration on mutual cooperation between Azerbaijan and Russia and President Vladimir Putin's speeches supporting Azerbaijan's territorial integrity and sovereignty,” the statement reads.

The Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry deemed it unacceptable for the Russian Foreign Ministry to comment on Azerbaijan's territorial integrity and sovereignty in such a context. The statement also indicates that the Azerbaijani side is taking practical steps to facilitate the signing of a peace treaty with Armenia.

“Azerbaijan has demonstrated its ongoing commitment to the tripartite agreement signed between the leaders of Azerbaijan, Armenia, and Russia; however, the Russian side has not ensured the full implementation of the statement within its obligations. Azerbaijan is interested in ensuring peace and stability in the region and will continue its efforts in that direction,” the statement added.

It is noteworthy that the Russian Foreign Ministry expressed concern over the fact that the situation around Nagorno-Karabakh is developing along a negative scenario and urged the Azerbaijani leadership to take immediate measures to unblock the Lachin corridor, resume unhindered movement of citizens, vehicles, and cargo in both directions, as well as to ensure energy supply in the region.
