The Fate of the Artsakh People Belongs to the Artsakh People: State Minister
Any conciliatory statements or decisions made on behalf of the Artsakh people are null and void. This was stated by Gurgen Nersisyan, the State Minister of the Republic of Artsakh, during a rally of the popular movement in Stepanakert’s Renaissance Square.
“Various platforms periodically issue statements and comments, claiming that we have numerous or various omissions in the negotiation processes involving the Republic of Armenia. And now, dear compatriots, I want us to declare together that the right of the Artsakh people to self-determination is not a subject of bargaining, that the Artsakh people have earned and exercised their right to self-determination.
The fate of the Artsakh people belongs to the Artsakh people, and any conciliatory statements or decisions made on behalf of the Artsakh people are null and void. Let no one allow themselves to consider bargaining, discussing, or conceding our people's right to self-determination and their right and freedom to manage their own destiny,” stated the State Minister.
He noted that in the post-war period, they have heard numerous discussions and comments from the Armenian authorities about lowering standards and recognizing Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity, but have yet to see peace or at least a friendly attitude.
“For what reason are these concessions being made if the situation of the Artsakh people worsens every day and the burden increases? If we want peace at this cost, then we do not want peace; we need peace in exchange for respecting our right to manage our own destiny,” he said, urging citizens not to lose heart despite everything.
