Polish Doctors Confirm No Signs of Poisoning in Saakashvili's Tests

Polish doctors have received all the necessary information regarding the health condition of former President of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili, currently at the VivaMed clinic in Tbilisi, and have agreed that the levels of heavy metals in the politician's body, according to previously acquired test results, are normal, stated Zurab Chkhaidze, the clinical director of the facility.

The Polish doctors recently conducted an examination of the political figure's health at the request of Saakashvili's family members.

“We discussed everything, including our nutritionist's and endocrinologist's notes, our proposed menu, and the calorie intake necessary for the patient. During the conversation, we recorded our desire and regret that the patient has not fully considered our recommendations. The Polish doctors received all the information,” Chkhaidze told reporters.

According to him, foreign colleagues confirmed that if Saakashvili were to take the necessary nutritional intake, his condition would be better. Chkhaidze added that the doctors also reviewed the results of analyses from both Georgia and Germany, which indicated that “there is no talk of any metal poisoning.”

“We showed them these results, and they agreed that the figures are normal based on this data,” said the director, adding that the former president's health condition is currently stable.

Earlier, Georgia's Minister of Justice, Rati Bregadze, reported that one of the Polish doctors, who is studying Saakashvili’s health at one of Tbilisi’s clinics, allegedly attempted to illegally remove a sample of the politician’s tests, hiding it in his shoes.

Saakashvili was arrested in Georgia on October 1, 2021, and is under investigation for several criminal cases. The political figure has been sentenced in absentia for the murder of banker Sandro Girgvliani and for the assault on MP Valeri Gelashvili. In the first case, Saakashvili was sentenced to three years in prison, and in the second to six years.
