Anne Louyon on Establishing Peace Between Armenia and Azerbaijan
France remains fully committed to the goal of establishing peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan, working alongside the European Union and the United States in a close coordination, emphasized Anne Louyon, France’s ambassador to Armenia, during an event held at the French Embassy on the occasion of France's national holiday on July 14. Louyon, who is concluding her diplomatic mission in Armenia in the coming days, stated, "As a result of the meeting in Chișinău between Prime Minister Pashinyan, President Aliyev, President Charles Michel, and Chancellor Scholz, President Macron reaffirmed that it is our responsibility to initiate the establishment of a fair and lasting peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan, respecting each other's sovereignty as well as the security of people and minorities."
She added, “France continues to be fully committed to this goal in close coordination with the European Union and the United States.” Louyon also welcomed and expressed gratitude to the members of the EU civilian mission for their excellent work contributing to the peace efforts. She expressed hope that the negotiations, which will continue in Brussels on July 15 following the meeting in Washington, would enable progress in this direction. She called for not weakening joint efforts to expand the involvement of the international community in the peaceful process.
