US House of Representatives Rejects Amendments to Transfer Cluster Munitions to Ukraine
On Friday, July 14, the U.S. House of Representatives did not support an amendment to the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) that would have prohibited the transfer of cluster bombs to Ukraine. The amendment was rejected by a majority vote (147 in favor and 276 against).
Earlier, the House had also rejected a number of other amendments proposed by several lawmakers aimed at reducing and blocking further military assistance to Ukraine.
On July 13, the U.S. military Joint Chiefs of Staff reported that cluster munitions had already been transferred to Ukraine.
