Putin Reveals How Prigozhin Rejected His Proposal Made at the Kremlin
The special correspondent of the Russian newspaper 'Kommersant', Andrey Kolesnikov, reported details from a meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and commanders of the Wagner private military company that took place on June 29 at the Kremlin. The meeting lasted three hours.
Putin shared a story from that meeting with the journalist. A total of 35 people attended the meeting, including the commanders:
“Well, here you are in the Kremlin. There are several options for work, including under your direct commander’s leadership (by call sign). That is, the person under whose command the Wagner fighters have served for the past 16 months,” said Putin.
“They could all gather in one place and continue to serve, and nothing would change for them. They would be led by the same person who has been their real commander all along. And what happened? Many nodded in agreement when I said this. But Prigozhin, who was sitting in the front and couldn’t see this, said after hearing it: ‘No, the guys do not agree with this decision,’” concluded Putin.
