When Will Yerevan City Council Elections Take Place

The Yerevan City Council elections will be held on September 17. The draft decision is included in the agenda of the government meeting today.

According to the justifications for the decision, "The last elections of the Yerevan City Council took place on September 23, 2018. The council assumed its powers on October 10, 2018. The term of its powers will expire on October 10, 2023." In accordance with Article 127, Part 1 of the Electoral Code of the Republic of Armenia, "The regular elections of the Yerevan City Council are held no earlier than 30 days, and no later than 20 days before the end of the council's powers." According to this regulation, the elections must be scheduled for September 17 (as the only Sunday in the specified timeframe).
