VIDEO: Death toll from floods in northern India exceeds 100
More than 100 people have died in northern India due to floods and landslides caused by heavy rains. This was reported by India Today magazine. According to the publication, the state of Himachal Pradesh, located in the foothills of the Himalayas, has been the hardest hit. Numerous landslides have occurred, and many settlements are underwater. Approximately 80 people have lost their lives due to the natural disaster in the state, although the rains have practically ceased.
In the mountainous regions of the northern states, flooding has disrupted road transportation, leaving around 300 tourists trapped in the mountains. As of yesterday, the water level of the Yamuna River in Delhi has exceeded the danger threshold and reached its highest level in the past decade. However, this has not resulted in any serious destruction in the city. On July 9, New Delhi recorded the highest daily rainfall in 40 years, totaling 153 mm.
