G7 Leaders to Announce Long-term International Security Guarantees for Ukraine Today

The leaders of the G7 (Group of Seven) nations will announce international long-term security guarantees for Ukraine today. This was stated by Amanda Sloat, the Senior Director for Europe at the National Security Council, as reported by The Guardian.

“President Biden and the G7 leaders, alongside Zelensky, will make an important announcement at noon today outlining our long-term commitment to support the people of Ukraine,” she said.

“Additionally, there will be a declaration on G7 countries’ plans to help Ukraine create armed forces that can defend itself and prevent future attacks,” the U.S. official added.

She detailed that a series of negotiations between G7 countries and Ukraine will begin today to obtain bilateral security guarantees.

The G7 declaration on security guarantees for Kyiv is expected to be ratified today during the NATO summit in Vilnius, according to Sky News, referencing the British Prime Minister's office.

According to the media outlet, the document includes the allocation of military equipment, strengthening intelligence sharing, expanding training programs for Ukrainian Armed Forces personnel, as well as enhancing Ukraine's industrial capabilities.
