Tyson Fury Refuses to Pay $1 Million to Ukraine for Fight with Oleksandr Usyk

The heavyweight champion of the WBC, Tyson Fury, has declined to pay $1 million to Ukraine for his fight against Ukrainian titleholder Oleksandr Usyk, recognized by the WBA (Super), WBO, and IBF. This was reported by Usyk's manager, Alexander Krasyuk, as stated by Kommersant.

According to Krasyuk, during negotiations, Fury offered Usyk 30% of all fight earnings. Usyk responded by demanding that Fury pay $1 million to Ukraine. “This is not a donation or charity, this is my condition,” Krasyuk quoted Usyk as saying.

“Tyson did not want to pay Ukraine. And I will never reveal the reason. Because it would forever tarnish his image,” Krasyuk added.

Boxing Social has not reached out for comments from Tyson Fury or his representatives.

News of the breakdown in negotiations between Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk emerged in March. According to Marca, the parties failed to reach an agreement over the distribution of earnings. Usyk advocated for an equal share of the revenue, while Fury demanded the majority of the fight's proceeds.
