Depriving Tovmasyan of Powers is a Step towards State Capture by the Authorities: Ioannisyan

Depriving Tapuhi Tovmasyan of her powers by representatives of the authorities is a step towards the capture of the state. This was stated by Daniel Ioannisyan, the head of the NGO 'Civil Society Platform,' in an interview with ArmLur.am.

“I have studied the draft proposed by the 'Civil Contract' faction, and I must say that 70% of the justification for the draft was of the nature that 'we can do it, we are doing it.' The only factual basis was her non-participation in the sessions of the National Assembly council. Other justifications mentioned in the second part, related to hate speech and others, were not supported by any facts. This draft is, in fact, very weak. Another important aspect here is that this position is allocated to the opposition, and it is very problematic for the authorities to deprive an opposition leader of their powers as the head of the commission. Yes, the activities of an official may not be pleasing to the authorities, and the authorities must tolerate this. I believe this situation contains a small component of a step towards the capture of the state by representatives of the authorities,” said Ioannisyan.

It should be noted that today the issue of terminating the powers of the Chair of the Standing Committee on Human Rights Protection and Public Affairs, Tapuhi Tovmasyan, is being discussed in the National Assembly.
