A Theater, A Performance: An Expert Discusses the Incident Involving Red Cross Vehicles
“Do international mediators not want to come and simply enter Artsakh to see the situation, or are they afraid of Azerbaijan?” wrote former MP and Azerbaijan expert Tatevik Hayrapetyan on her Facebook page.
“A theater, a performance by Azerbaijan's state television, claiming that cigarettes, phones, and gasoline have been brought into Artsakh through Red Cross vehicles. But aside from that, one question concerns me: do all those international mediators who advised Nikol Pashinyan to recognize Artsakh as part of Azerbaijan, and then supposedly secure consolidation around Artsakh, not want to come and simply enter Artsakh to see the situation, or are they afraid of Azerbaijan?”
If you do not have leverage over Azerbaijan, then you cannot assume the role of a mediator, because that carries enormous responsibility. You are responsible for the dire and worsening situation created in Artsakh,” the expert wrote.
It is worth recalling that we previously reported that the State Border Service of Azerbaijan temporarily closed the Lachin corridor, claiming that “numerous attempts to transport various types of smuggled goods using vehicles belonging to the International Committee of the Red Cross through the border checkpoint have been uncovered.”
