Assault on Nairi Hokhikyan in Martuni

Recently, a group of men provoked and assaulted journalist Nairi Hokhikyan near the signature collection site of the 'Hayakve' initiative in Martuni. This was reported by 'Hraparak'.

Nairi Hokhikyan, who is the coordinator of the 'Hayakve' initiative in Martuni, stated in an interview that several older men were standing not far from the signature collection site and directing people, to the extent that citizens who had signed started to return and demand the cancellation of their signatures due to further instructions and threats.

“These people are directing citizens, even saying that 'Hayakve' is organized by Jehovah's Witnesses, to dishearten people and make them abandon the initiative. They claim that this initiative is for the supporters of Kocharyan, and so on,” he said.

The journalist noted that these men attempted to provoke even the female employees of the initiative, stating, “They come close, tear up papers, and provoke in every possible way.”

Hokhikyan mentioned that he has contacted the police, but these men continue to remain near the site. “If such incidents happen again, I will be forced to file a report about the crime. There is a climate of fear in Martuni,” added Nairi Hokhikyan.
