Video: Damaged Asphalt, Damaged Cars, Water-Filled Houses: Effects of Heavy Rains in Sochi
In the Khostinsky district of Sochi, Russia, streets have been submerged due to heavy rains, causing parts of the asphalt to collapse, homes to be flooded, and ten cars to be swept away by the water. Approximately 80 mm of precipitation fell here on Sunday night.
The heavy rain resulted in the collapse of asphalt in certain areas of the city, with vehicles being carried away by the water. Footage shows that damaged cars have formed a 'barrier' on one of the streets.
Currently, efforts are underway to eliminate the consequences of bad weather in the Khostinsky district of Sochi. Water is being pumped out from the basements of homes. It is reported that 60 personnel and 15 units of equipment are involved in addressing the aftermath of the weather challenges.
Fortunately, there have been no casualties or injuries reported. Public transport is operating as usual. It is worth noting that a storm warning remains in effect for Sochi, with the main impact of the extreme weather expected on Monday night.
Additionally, swimming at the beaches of Sochi is banned until the end of the day on July 10.
