How Many Criminal Cases Have Been Initiated for Desertion During the 44-Day War and State of Emergency?

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan addressed the criminal cases related to instances of desertion during the 44-day war at a parliamentary inquiry committee studying the circumstances of the conflict. He revealed that criminal proceedings have been initiated against approximately 12,600 civilians and military personnel, who are accused of disobeying orders, desertion, and other charges.

Aysor.am sent an inquiry to the Prosecutor's Office requesting information on how many individuals had criminal cases initiated against them for violations of military service regulations during the 44-day war and the declared state of emergency. In response to the inquiry, the Prosecutor's Office stated:

“The Military Prosecutor's Office does not maintain separate records for crimes against military order. As for the cases of desertion, during the aforementioned period, criminal cases (criminal proceedings) have been initiated against 3,585 individuals.”
