Ukraine Must Receive NATO Invitation Now, Kuleba Says
The leaders of the North Atlantic Alliance must clearly specify the timeframe in which they will be ready to admit Ukraine to NATO, said Ukraine's Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba in an article titled "NATO’s Next Decade" for the American publication Foreign Policy.
"If NATO leaders are still not ready to announce an invitation in Vilnius, they must clearly indicate when they will be prepared. Membership has official requirements, but an invitation does not. It only requires strategic foresight and political will," Kuleba stated.
He also urged NATO to recognize three obvious truths: "First, NATO needs Ukraine at least as much as Ukraine needs NATO. Second, Kyiv is an integral part of Euro-Atlantic security. And third, Ukraine must receive an invitation from the alliance now and become a member when all necessary conditions are met," noted the head of Ukraine's Foreign Ministry.
