Araik Harutyunyan Announces Conditions for Dialogue with Baku: 'Haykakan Jamanak'

According to the newspaper 'Haykakan Jamanak', Artsakh President Araik Harutyunyan held a consultation the day before and stated that they are ready to engage in dialogue with Baku, on one condition: if Russia takes on the role of mediator. This means that the mediation by the USA is rejected, as they are exclusively pushing for the integration of Artsakh, while there is still a chance to avoid this with the Russians.

The official statement does not mention Russia. It states: “In this context, I would like to emphasize that the Republic of Artsakh remains committed to its constructive stance and is ready to discuss and resolve all issues through civilized dialogue and peaceful means.”

Araik Harutyunyan highlighted that the increasingly challenging security and humanitarian situation, amid growing Azerbaijani threats, poses serious challenges to the existence of the Artsakh people. Previously, dialogue had been refused because “Baku is discussing one topic with us – the topic of integration,” Harutyunyan said during a meeting with parliament members. Considering Araik Harutyunyan's letter to Putin, it is possible that negotiations with Baku may occur with Russia's mediation.
