Absurd Accusation: Grigor Minasian on Hindrance to Journalists' Work at the Constitutional Court

The Minister of Justice, Grigor Minasian, disagrees with the claim that journalists' work was obstructed during the announcement of the disciplinary verdict concerning former judge Davit Harutyunyan at the Constitutional Court. Minasian expressed this in an interview with Azatutyun.

"Manipulative articles are being spread through permanent media outlets. On that day, three cases were being heard, and the media arrived a bit late, specifically to cover Davit Harutyunyan’s case, and the hall was filled. For such instances, the department installs televisions so that the media can see what is happening. This is an absurd accusation. They are not stating that it was merely the announcement of the verdict; no process can be hidden," Minasian noted.

He further stated that he had requested the proceedings to be held behind closed doors to prevent critical remarks directed at the judiciary from circulating incessantly.

"Davit Harutyunyan exhibited such behavior that the court was forced to remove him from the hearing room, and this proves that it was indeed correct to hold the sessions in private. Furthermore, that recording was edited. In reality, the lawyers did not attend the session because it was a day of strikes, but they were nearby the building, and it was merely an opportunity for session delays. When the judge called him out, he did not take his turn; the bailiffs removed him, and the door was closed. There is no issue with that recording," emphasized the minister.
