Russian Embassy Advises Against Importing Vehicles with Russian Plates to Germany Temporarily
The Embassy of the Russian Federation in Germany has urged on its website to refrain from importing vehicles with Russian license plates into the country due to an increase in cases of confiscation. This information was reported by ria.ru.
"Until the situation is clarified (appropriate actions have been taken by the embassy and consular institutions), we strongly advise Russian citizens to avoid importing vehicles with Russian plates into Germany," stated the embassy's comment in Berlin.
Earlier, it was reported that cases of confiscation of vehicles with Russian plates by German customs officials have become more frequent. Those affected are accused of violating the Federal Republic of Germany's law on sanctions regarding foreign trade.
"The arguments that these are not goods intended for resale, but rather personal property used for personal purposes and temporarily imported into Germany on legal grounds are not taken into account," the embassy noted.
According to the diplomatic office, Russian citizens are also warned about the possibility of criminal prosecution related to violations of German legislation.
