Georgian Ambassador Leaves Ukraine
The Georgian ambassador to Ukraine, Georgi Zacharashvili, has already left Kyiv. This was reported by InterPressNews agency, citing the Georgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The agency writes, "The Georgian ambassador has already left Kyiv."
The Georgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs did not disclose what time the ambassador would return to his homeland.
On Monday, former Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili participated remotely in a Tbilisi City Court session regarding the dispersal of the 2007 protest after a long hiatus. He displayed his emaciated body and called on the Georgian authorities to apologize for putting him in such a condition.
Later, Volodymyr Zelensky announced that he had instructed the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs to summon the Georgian ambassador and lodge a strong protest regarding the situation related to Saakashvili, suggesting the diplomat leave Ukraine within 48 hours for consultations with Tbilisi. The Georgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs considered the Ukrainian authorities' directive for the ambassador to return to Tbilisi for consultations as an extreme measure of escalating tensions in relations.
