No Invitation Received: Tiran Khachatryan Responds to Andranik Kocharyan
The newspaper "Zhoghovurd" writes: The controversies surrounding the National Assembly's investigative committee examining the circumstances of the 44-day war of 2020 are far from calming down, with regular new revelations. However, these revelations are not about the circumstances of the war or the incompetence of the authorities, but rather concern the activities of the committee and its chairman, Andranik Kocharyan.
Andranik Kocharyan, who chairs both the Committee on Security and Defense and the investigative committee, has repeatedly claimed that he sent invitations to several military personnel and high-ranking officials who did not attend the committee's meetings. Kocharyan published the names of the military personnel and high-ranking former officials, asserting they are afraid to come to the National Assembly.
“There are soldiers who are scared, for example, Tiran Khachatryan, who publicly refused to attend the session. I invited Vardan Oskanian regarding foreign policy issues, who also declined, but we will send another invitation. He needs to be kind enough to come during the discussions related to Artsakh, as many questions will relate to the actions taken by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs,” he stated.
However, in a conversation with "Zhoghovurd," Tiran Khachatryan denied Kocharyan's claims, insisting that no invitation has reached him so far. Khachatryan elaborated that he received a call from Kocharyan's secretary asking for his address to send the invitation letter, but the invitation never arrived. “I have one apartment, one address where I am registered and live, and I have never received a letter from any organization; no invitation has come to me.” This indicates that Andranik Kocharyan has publicly lied by claiming that people are not attending the sessions. Although Khachatryan stated in our conversation that, “Even if an invitation arrives, I will not go regardless.”
We also tried to reach Andranik Kocharyan to clarify whether an invitation was sent to Tiran Khachatryan; however, upon hearing the name of the "Zhoghovurd" newspaper, he immediately became "agitated." “I’m not interested in whether you’re from 'Zhoghovurd' or from 'outer space', I will not comment over the phone,” Kocharyan bizarrely responded without even hearing the question and then disconnected the call.
Perhaps after reading this material, the ruling party member will release a fiery text. Meanwhile, it seems that Andranik Kocharyan is using this committee not to investigate the circumstances of the war and uncover the truth, but rather to distort reality, conceal facts, absolve Nikol Pashinyan, and assign new blame to others.
