Man and His Mother Sentenced for Kidnapping Pregnant Woman in Russia

Two residents of the Onega district in the Arkhangelsk region of Russia have been found guilty of kidnapping. The verdict has entered into legal force, reports the press service of the regional prosecutor's office.

In 2022, a 36-year-old man and his 69-year-old mother attacked the man's former girlfriend in a drunken state when she had come to collect her belongings. The assailants were aware that the woman was pregnant. The victim was accompanied by her minor children.

The man dragged the former resident into their house by force. He struck the woman on the head and body and attempted to choke her. The aggressor's mother pushed the woman, and when the victim tried to escape through a window, she was pulled back inside.

Later, when the pregnant woman managed to escape through another window, the elderly woman grabbed her by the hair and held her until bystanders intervened.

The victim was examined by doctors and diagnosed with multiple hematomas.

Both defendants were found guilty and sentenced to 5 years of conditional imprisonment each, with the woman receiving a probation period of 2 years and the man receiving 4 years. The perpetrator has been ordered to pay 30,000 rubles in compensation for non-material damage to the former cohabitant.
