Aliyev Discusses Armenia Resolution Process with Turkish Foreign Minister
The President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, discussed the resolution process with Armenia in a meeting with Turkey's Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan. Azerbaijani media report on this development.
Aliyev exchanged thoughts with the Turkish Foreign Minister on regional issues. He also spoke about the processes for normalizing relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia, as well as ensuring lasting peace and security in the South Caucasus.
It is noteworthy that in 2021, President Ilham Aliyev expressed his willingness to sign a peace treaty with Armenia. In March 2022, Baku presented a five-point proposal regarding the normalization of relations to Yerevan. The Armenian side added amendments and sent back its version. Since then, multiple rounds of negotiations have occurred at various levels between the parties.
Recently, high-level meetings between Armenian and Azerbaijani officials have taken place in Washington, Brussels, Moscow, and Chișinău. Another round of negotiations was held in the United States from June 27 to 29. On June 29, the Armenian Foreign Ministry announced that Mirzoyan and Bayramov, along with their teams, reached an agreement on several articles of the draft bilateral agreement on 'Establishing Peace and Inter-state Relations.'
