Prigozhin Returned 10 Billion Rubles Seized During Searches in St. Petersburg
The head of the Wagner private military company, Yevgeny Prigozhin, has had 10 billion rubles returned to him, which were discovered and seized during searches in his offices in St. Petersburg on June 24, following his rebellion in the Rostov region. This was reported by the local publication ‘Fontanka’.
According to the publication, initially, the authorities were not planning to return the 10 billion rubles, hundreds of thousands of dollars, and five gold bullion bars. The funds were collected not by Prigozhin himself but by his driver under an official power of attorney. The details of how the procedure was conducted remain unclear. Preliminary data indicates that Prigozhin himself was in Moscow over the weekend.
However, the white Gazelle parked in the courtyard of the Trezzini Palace and the new white Citroen in the underground parking lot of the River Palace hotel have not been returned; the vehicles remain in their places.
Earlier, Prigozhin stated that the discovered funds were intended for employee salaries and compensations for “Cargo 200” and “other matters.”
