Neymar Fined $3.3 Million for Creating Artificial Pond
Authorities in Mangaratiba, Rio de Janeiro, have fined Neymar, the Paris Saint-Germain and Brazilian national team footballer, 16 million reals (over $3.3 million) for creating an artificial pond and swimming area on his property. This information was reported by G1.
According to the prosecutor’s office, the PSG forward did not ensure proper environmental oversight during the construction. For this violation, the athlete was fined 10 million reals (about $2 million). Additionally, Neymar incurred another fine of 5 million reals (over $1 million) for illegally 'moving earth.'
The Brazilian was also fined 1 million reals (about $208,000) for swimming in the illegally constructed pond, as authorities had previously prohibited him from doing so. However, as the prosecutor concluded, Neymar continues to use the pond.
The final fine, amounting to 10,000 reals ($2,000), was imposed on the footballer for the unauthorized destruction of green areas.
